Meet Marwa
Marwa Rawag brings over 10 years of experience across private tutoring, classroom teaching, special education, substitute teaching, and community-based youth programs. She helps learners build understanding and confidence through patient explanations, practical examples, and teaching adapted to their needs.
Her background includes approximately six years of school-based instructional experience and approximately five years as a Special Education Instructional Aide. In that role, she provided individual and small-group academic support to students with moderate to severe disabilities, assisted with IEP goal implementation, and used visual supports, behavior support, and differentiated instruction.
She has taught High School Environmental Science and Health Science, and Middle School Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Her strongest matches include learners who need help catching up, students with IEPs or different learning needs, English language learners, and Arabic-speaking families.
Education & Professional Preparation
Marwa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health with a minor in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine, and completed Health Education teaching-credential preparation at California State University, Long Beach. She holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, valid through July 1, 2030, and a 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, valid through October 1, 2027.
She is pursuing an additional California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Life Science, expected April 2027. She reports CBEST completion and CPR certification.
Her Public Health background brings real-world context to human biology, disease and immunity, nutrition, genetics, environmental health, and infectious and chronic diseases. She uses these connections to make academic concepts more concrete and meaningful.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Build trust, celebrate progress, and work through challenges together.
Marwa values willingness and effort over existing academic ability. She aims to make learners comfortable asking questions, trying again, and becoming more independent.
Break it into steps
Slow down, simplify the concept, or try another explanation until the learner finds a way forward.
Encourage small gains
Create a calm environment where mistakes are welcome and progress can be celebrated.
Work as a team
Keep students, families, tutors, and the institution aligned through regular, practical communication.

I believe a good student to tutor is not necessarily someone who already excels academically, but someone who is willing to learn, puts in effort, and feels comfortable asking questions when they don’t understand something. Openness and attitude matter more than current ability. A good tutor, in turn, is patient, understanding, and flexible enough to adjust their approach to meet each student’s unique learning needs. Creating an environment where students feel safe making mistakes is essential, because trust and encouragement can make a profound difference in a student’s confidence and willingness to engage. When learning becomes difficult, I believe the tutor and student should work through it together, slowing down, breaking concepts into smaller steps, or trying a different approach until something clicks.
A good tutoring institution supports this relationship from the outside in. It matches students with tutors who genuinely understand their needs and goals, provides tutors with helpful resources and lesson materials, and maintains open channels of communication so that progress can be shared and concerns can be addressed promptly. When something isn’t working, the institution should actively help find solutions rather than leaving tutors and students to manage alone.
Parents play an equally important role in this partnership. A supportive parent encourages their child, stays meaningfully involved in their learning journey, and understands that progress takes time. Celebrating small improvements and avoiding excessive pressure, especially during moments of struggle, helps keep the student motivated. I believe parents, tutors, and the institution should communicate regularly about the student’s strengths, challenges, and progress, all working toward the same shared goal: helping the student grow academically while building the confidence and independence they need to succeed beyond the tutoring relationship.
