My Teaching Philosophy

Encourage. Adapt. Communicate.

Vannerie believes students learn best when they are willing to participate, comfortable making mistakes and confident asking questions. She responds with patience, adapts instruction to the learner and keeps communication open when learning becomes difficult.

Welcome mistakes

Treat corrections and mistakes as a natural part of growth, without making learners afraid to participate.

Keep communication open

Encourage honest questions and feedback among the learner, tutor and family when challenges arise.

Celebrate steady progress

Set realistic goals, recognize small achievements and build confidence through consistent practice.

In my view, a good student to tutor is one who is willing to learn, participates actively, and remains open to feedback and corrections — including the inevitable mistakes that are a natural part of growth. A good tutor, in turn, is patient, understanding, and supportive, with the ability to adjust their teaching style to meet each learner’s unique needs.

When learning becomes difficult, both tutor and student should communicate openly, stay patient with each other, and keep going — the tutor offering encouragement and the student persisting without fear of asking questions or getting things wrong.

A good tutoring institution underpins this relationship by providing quality resources, clear communication, and a genuinely supportive environment. Online Tutor Connect should match tutors and learners thoughtfully, taking into account individual needs, goals and learning styles while offering reliable tools and practical assistance when challenges arise.

Parents play an equally important role by encouraging their child, appreciating progress and creating a comfortable space for learning at home without placing excessive pressure on the learner.

When parents, tutors and the institution communicate openly, share feedback, set realistic goals and recognize small achievements, they create the conditions for the learner to build genuine confidence and develop a lasting enjoyment of learning.
