Meet Ali
Ali Akbar, M.S., CMILT, is an international online STEM tutor specializing in Mathematics and Physics for learners aged 11–18 across GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB and SAT pathways. His aeronautical engineering background allows him to connect abstract concepts to practical examples involving forces, motion, mechanics and applied problem-solving.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering from the College of Aeronautical Engineering, NUST, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Abasyn University, Islamabad. He is a Registered Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Ali currently also serves as a Physics and Maths Online Tutor with a UK-based tutoring provider, delivering live GCSE and A-Level instruction, exam-preparation webinars and subscription-based online courses.
Applied explanations
His engineering background helps learners connect Algebra, Calculus, forces, motion and mechanics to meaningful real-world applications.
Documented progress
His profile reports A and A* outcomes and improvements of 20–40% within three to six months for students who participate consistently. Individual outcomes vary.
How I Can Help
Focused Mathematics and Physics support for international secondary curricula, exam preparation and confidence rebuilding.
1:1 Mathematics Tutoring
Personalized support in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Mechanics and Engineering Mathematics, aligned to the learner’s curriculum and goals.
1:1 Physics Tutoring
Concept development and problem-solving in Mechanics and core Physics topics required by the learner’s exam board.
Exam Preparation
Targeted preparation for GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB and SAT through past papers, timed practice and exam-focused review.
Concept Rebuilding
Step-by-step support for learners who need to revisit foundational concepts and rebuild confidence before advancing.
Homework & Past-Paper Support
Guided problem-solving, annotation and feedback that supports learning without completing assessed work on the student’s behalf.
Small-Group Revision
Revision for two to three students following the same curriculum or exam board, with focused practice and shared discussion.
Core areas: Algebra; Trigonometry; Calculus; Mechanics; Engineering Mathematics; forces and motion; exam-board Physics; SAT Mathematics; international exam preparation.

Qualifications & professional standing
Ali holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering from CAE, NUST, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Abasyn University. He is a Registered Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council and a Chartered Member (CMILT) of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Online-teaching development
His professional development includes completion of Learning to Teach Online, authorized by UNSW Sydney, and Excellence in Online Teaching, authorized by Johns Hopkins University, through Coursera. He also reports additional professional learning in online instruction and teaching methodology.
Learner fit & curriculum range
Ali is particularly well matched to students rebuilding foundational concepts and exam-focused learners aiming for stronger grades. He supports Edexcel and AQA pathways, IB SL/HL, SAT Mathematics and selected early undergraduate Engineering Mathematics and Mechanics after syllabus review. Further Mathematics requests are considered case by case.
Delivery, technology & integrity
He teaches through Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet using digital whiteboards, online annotation and structured practice. He can review student work and past papers and uses AI-assisted tools to prepare practice questions, lesson plans and knowledge-gap analysis.
English is his primary instructional language, with Urdu available as secondary support. He maintains a firm commitment to academic integrity and does not accept cheating requests or assignments completed on behalf of students.
My Teaching Philosophy
Question. Connect. Build.
Ali believes progress begins with a learner’s willingness to engage, ask questions and keep trying. He responds to difficulty by returning to fundamentals, using practical examples and rebuilding understanding step by step.
Make questions welcome
Create a learning environment where students can ask freely and learn from mistakes.
Connect ideas to practice
Use engineering and real-life examples to make abstract Mathematics and Physics meaningful.
Build independence
Strengthen understanding and confidence until the learner can solve problems more independently.

I believe a good student is one who is willing to learn, asks questions, and keeps trying even when things get difficult. What matters most is not where a student starts, but their openness to engage with the material and learn from their mistakes.
As a tutor, I bring patience, clear explanations, and the ability to understand each student’s individual needs. When a student struggles, I go back to basics, use real-life examples — drawing on my aeronautical engineering background to connect abstract Mathematics and Physics concepts to practical, meaningful contexts — and work through material step by step to rebuild understanding and confidence.
I want every student to feel comfortable asking questions, to see mistakes as part of the learning process, and to gradually grow into a more confident and independent learner.
A good tutoring institution supports this relationship by matching students with the right tutors and maintaining clear, open communication. When issues arise, the institution should respond promptly and handle them fairly while providing feedback, operational guidance and useful teaching resources.
Parents also play an important role by encouraging effort without excessive pressure and communicating regularly about progress and areas needing attention. Parents, tutors and the institution should work as a coordinated partnership that keeps the learner at the centre and nurtures growing confidence and independence.
